Dear Gymners,

Sorry for my mistake about Anne.  Lanna Apisukh(a good friend of mine) was
the 92 Junior National Champion.  Anne Woynerowski was the 91 Junior
National Champion.  Still, does anyone know what ever happened to Anne
Woynerowski?

Gymnastically Yours,

Subject: Thoughts on Superstars of Gymnastics

Dear Gymners,

Just thought I share my thoughts on Superstars of Gymnastics.  So, here
goes!

All in all, the show was pretty good.  Kurt Thomas CANNOT commentate!  Wendy
Hilliard wasn't all that either, but no where near as annoying as Kurt was.
For me, Paul Hunt was the real star of the show.  It was nice to see Kimbo
again.  She's still alittle heavy, but no way near as bad as before!  Dom M.
is the one to watch for in 96.  The GREASE skit were pretty stupid.  Bart,
Nadia, and gang have done those 50's and 60's skits many, many, times in
different exhibitions.  Nadia's been doing that "Going to the Chapel"
routine since 1991!  You get tired of it after awhile.

Well, that's all for now!

Gymnastically yours,
David =]

Hi,

After recieving several phone calls in the past two days and our "friends"
not being able to log on, I thought that I would make it somewhat easier!

We are now using Excalibur software. Those of you who aren't familiar with it
will grow to love it, once you get past the rough spots!  It is still in Beta
testing, so my hope is that it will get easier!

1.    Use any terminal program to log on the first time. You will be asked if
you want to download our own Terminal program and to choose the style of
transfer.  In order to really log on, you must use our terminal program.
(For those of you who are unsure on how to do this, you can also find the
terminal program on other services such as AOL. If you can't find it "out
there" and are having problems downloading, call our voice line and leave
your name and number, ect.  I might be convinced to put the program on a disk
and mail to you for $1 to cover the disk/postage)

2.   After you download the program, go to file manager and select run. Run
the program Excaltrm.exe, it is a self-extracting program. Its done in
windows, so its not to hard. Make sure you fill in the blanks and config your
modem! That can be a little tricky!

3.    After you have done all of this you are ready to call back and
experience the new and improved FlashPoint! using the program Excalibur
Client.

Dory called in and I thought you might like to see what he thought!  Thanks
Dory!

>    Anyway, I downloaded Excalibur and after a bit off a fuss configuring it
(modem was > the tough part) I finally got through, and it's GREAT! I'm
looking forward to playing > around a bit more to see everything that's
available.

Our Tech support number is 404-531-0381 and is available most hours!  A real
live person except when we are at the gym!  Jim is your Tech Support, so he
may have to call me at work to get the answer,  but we are working on it!

Hope this answers your questions and helps out!

Thanks,
Lori, aka JC Laramie SysOp of FlashPoint BBS

Well,  I still dont know how a show can change so drastically in 2 days!  I
saw the show in Chicago and I'm glad I did.  The going to the chapel was
corny, did the grease skits have a point?  As for Kurt and Wendy...close call
for  Maura and John.  I have haerd Wendy before-she does commintating for
cheerleading and dance on ESPN.
Domineque really watered down her preformince on floor.  I thought her new
bar set had a tkachtev somewhere in there.  Why doesnt gina throw her new
relaese move in at compititions?  Looks pretty solid to me.  Who were those
LA dancer girls?

As for Superstars of gymnastics---

I do agree on the corny Going to the Chapel, Grease, etc. Dominique threw
harder tumbling at '93 USA's, and she's had a tkatchev.....I wonder where it
went?? As for Gina, her release was done well.....but she struggled at bit to
make the kip out of it.

By any chance, did anyone tape the Superstars?  I live in Japan and have
absolutely NO access to televised gymnastics events from the States.

Also, I noted someone remarking about Cheerleading shows on ESPN.  If
anyone has video of this, I would be VERY interested.

Please reply to my email address...  Thank you in advance!

Actually this is something she brought back from her 92 routine.  She used to
do the Marinich after a Tkatchev.  I've never seen her not have problems
coming out of it.  I guess she scrapped it after Europeans.  I wouldn't say
it is solid and actually is done quite poorly, little amplitude and bent
knees and elbows.  See Tatiana Malaya's (Ukraine) for comparison.

On the other hand her double layout on floor was quite good.

I think that the best reason the gymnast did not throw their normal
competition routine is that it would make no sense for them to risk
injury for an exhibition.

Hi everyone

If you're interested in Jnr Pacific Alliance results you're going to hate
me!  They were actually given in our local paper, but I did little but
glance over them, before tossing it out.  The reason being, Aussie
Rebecca Wilson won silver on UB behind an American, and when Wilson gets
a medal, you know the standard is low, since she is not a good gymnast by
any strech of the imagination! (and I'm being as nice as possible!), in fact
she hasn't even been
offered an AIS scholarship, and was coached over there by local Brisbane
coach Vladimir Zahkarov.  Anyway, the Aussie Mens & Womens teams both got
2nd, and thats about all I remember.......

Michelle

P.S.  Does anyone out there have a video tape of the Womens 1984 DTB
Cup?  It was won by Gurova, and I'd do anything for a copy!  I have
hundreds of meets on tape, including every DTB since 1985 if anyone wants
to swap for it?

Wasn't it 83 DTB Cup?  Didn't she tie many time World, European, and Olympic
champ Maxi Gnauck?

Just wondering

PS I want a copy too! :-)

Subject: The Marinich

A Marinich is a release move which starts out like a reverse hecht but
the gymnast snaps a front somersault and regrasps the bar instead of going
backward over the bar as in a reverse hecht.  This move is often confused
with a Xiao Ruizhi, but a Xiao Ruizhi is a Marinich to an immediate full
pirouette (as performed by Malaya of Ukraine and Roschina of Russia).
If you remember the impressive bar routine of 91 World Champ Kim Gwang
Suk, she performed the Marinich immediately after a reverse hecht.

Regarding Anne: All I know is she dropped back down to Level 9
or 10, unknown as to why. She pulled out of the 92 US Seniors
due to injury, though she did compete in bars finals. I don't
think she hs comepted eliete since.

and...regarding Superstars, I saw alot of thigs that impressed
me. Among them were Moceanu, Zmeskal, Phillipee Chantrand (alothough
I'm not sure you could call it gymnastics) and Milosovici. I absolutely
loved her new floor routine. First time I enjoyed her music and
choregraphy. Nicely done,.

I'm pretty certain it was 1984, since Gurova would have only been 10 in
1983!  Does anyone know Gurova's exact date of birth?  I'm guessing she
was born in 1973 based on the ages commentators gave her, and the fact
that she competed in 1987 Worlds.  If anyone has any news on Gurova since
1988 PLEASE post it!  She's my all time favourite gymnast, and I've heard
nothing about her since a post Seoul Soviet tour......

Thanks
Michelle
