TV alert - CBC rebroadcast
My local TV listings say that CBC will be
rebroadcasting their
Sabae
Worlds coverage latenight on Sunday Nov.5th at
12:30am
(not sure if it's the Team/AA or EF show)
which is technically
Monday morning, I suppose... I would assume it'll
be shown
at the same time across the country.
The
listing doesn't say that it's a repeat, but it will most
likely
be a rebroadcast of what they aired two weeks ago.
But you just never know
what CBC has in store! Might
be
worth checking out...

About Julissa Gomez. Sorry I seem to have posted incorrect
information about
her injury causing her death.
That is what I read, and so, what I believed.

South Africa-International Challenge
At the recent International
Gymnastics Challenge in South Africa one of our
British list members,
Andrea Leman, competed. A disapointing beam
dropped
her down a bit, but she ended with a great
floor! Well done Andrea.
The
second league in Pretoria was won by Anamaria Bican, 2nd-Raegen Tomacek
and 3rd Oksana Chusovitina (she
fell twice on beam-8.50) Chusovitina is so
tiny! I would say, about 1,40m, and she is 20! I really
admire her.
I spoke to Kelli Hill and she said Dominique Dawes is training
well and her
injuries are better.

Re: November IG
I have to agree. In the past few years I have seen the
magazine really take a
turn down hill. It seems
that since Paul Ziert took over that IG has lost
some of the quality content in favor of glossy pics and weak articles. It is
perhaps
just a sign of the times that as our sport grows there is now a need
for another Mag.

It's not in the code of points yet.
I would assume it will be
valued the same as the jump forward 1/1
twist to
front support,
currently in the Code of Points and
valued as a B skill.

S. Miller Book
Has anyone read the book on Shannon Miller advertised
in IG? Is it
worth
buying or is it redundant information?
I read the Zmeskal book,
and a lot of it was quotes I had already heard Bela, Kim, or her parents
make
on TV.

Before I get to Atlanta info -- I saw a
commercial for a "jennie the gymnast
doll" She
works uneven bars (kinda) and has an instruction book
with her. I
believe this is a Matel
toy -- noted that this was a definitely a doll that
looked
like a healthy (not skinny) little girl.

Gymn book (Don't worry, NOT *the book*)
I
just got this great gymnastics book called "Going For It!". ($16.95 US)
It's by Mark Gibson, and the whole thing
is filled with quotes, suggestions
and tips(not on
your gymnastics, but on your attitude towards it.) I don't
know
exactly where you can get it (I got mine at my gym) but I have an
address you can write to for it. If anyone wants the
address, you can e-mail
me privately at

>------------------
to answer the question as best I can:
Alternate teams are those that they know
can come if any of the previously
mentioned teams
can't make it. Also, the 3
alternate teams on neither the
men's or women's
sides make any sense -- on the men's side Romania came in
3rd at world's,
so my assumption is that they took the standings from 1994
World Championships
and predicted who the top 12 teams would be as they
issued
the ivitations to the countries before Sabae, but the invitation did
say
that they were inviting the top 2 finishers on their team at Sabae.
Hope this helps clear things up.
