KIM ZMESKAL
First of all, I think we all need to stop judging Kim Zmeskal. A
situation
is totally different from the outside
than it is when you're involved.
Obviously, Kim didn't feel like she wanted
to be on the Olympic team again.
When you're in that situation, and you
have an out (the injuries), you use
it. I've been in her shoes before, and if
you don't put all your effort
into it and don't
want it bad enough, it won't work.
Of course I was
dissapointed
with her not making a comeback...who, of her fans, isn't? But
I've accepted it and respected her
descision.
Who are we to say what she
should/shouldn't
do? And as for the
"supposed" e-mail sent to that person
from
Kim Zmeskal, I guarantee you it was not her. I have always gotten the
impression that she was a really sweet and friendly
person. I think we, as
outsiders, think of her as an athlete-not a 20 yr. old human
being. We
can't
expect her to do something that we all want her to do. Some of you
need
to calm down on this thing...is it really your whole life? I hope not.
Maybe she's reading this...If
she is, then I hope she's happy with what I
said. Kim Zmeskal is
a human being...and she should be treated like one!

splinter gymnnastics lists
OK heres the deal.
I recently went into the internet service provision biz.
Ill supply you with list service starting in August this
year.
I have listserv software already but it will take that long
before the added bandwidth is ready to handle it.
But
BEFORE I DO such a thing, I want some input from ppl
if I SHOULD.
Rachele, Robin, George and the rest of the "big kids" on this
list.
Lizza, and Andriana
too !
SHOULD we split this list
?
Is this REALLY the right thing to do ?
Looking
back in my mail queue, I dont quite understand WHY we
need
to split the list. If we were to split ANYTHING off,
I
would say it should be mens gymnastics since this
list is already
90% girls gymn.
But
really isnt the youth topic really something that
should stay here ?
I mean maybe it might displace
some of the name calling of recent.
ANyway,
private mail me with reasons why we SHOULD split the list.
If the reason
justifies it, Ill add the list to my "majordomo
system".
But I dont want
to do anything to screw up what Rachele already got
going.

Dont just do things right, do the right things right for
the right reason !

Re: Forwaded message from Kim
This is the
message that liar Michael Rogers sent me Thursday. A forged
e-mail message. He must have forged it then. I started not
to do this,
because I respect people's privacy.
But since Michael, a so-called friend of
Kim Zmeskal's,
spoke lies of me publicly, I am posting what was sent to me
privately. Pay close attention to the e-mail addresses in
the message. If it
is a fake, it's on him, not me.
As I said, you people are not going to
intimidate
me into silence. When you shut up, I will. If it is war you want,
so be it!!!
You asked for it, and here it
is...

To personally address Garlfar's claims - Fwd. to Garlfar
Hello, Garlfar...
First of all, might I apologize
for having to send this via a
forwarded message.
Or rather, I won't apologize. You have, in the best
wording
possible, made a rear end of yourself to my friend Michael and
the rest of GYMN. So, because of that, I refuse to mail you
personally.
But I will send mail to you through Michael, if you have any
questions to
ask me. So, here goes.

Wow. What
school do you go to? I'll bet you are still in high school.
The way you
write, it sure sounds like it.
Well, Michael had the guts to have me talk to you, and here I am.
The
thing that I really don't see is why you came
onto the scene of GYMN just
to cause trouble. This
list was really fine until you decided to tell all
of
your 'facts.' What was the point in Michael running to me? Well, I take
it very personally when you say bad things about my coach
and my friends.
Sure, Bela was rough at times,
but he was _never_ abusive. I know this for a
fact
because I have been with him since I was six or seven.
It is my opinion, take it or leave
it, that you are just here to cause
trouble. We
have never really heard from you before this. Why did you
want to cause a stir? I can see that you have the right to
your own
opinion, but you do not have this right
when you make accusations that
you can't back up
with verifiable sources. Why don't you ever tell us any
of
them? Or is it because you don't really have any, and you just wanted
to be noticed.
Any responses to this can be sent
to Michael, as I have set a kill
file for you on
my mail program. He will send them to me.
Food for thought, huh?

Since I've been asked
(and had thought about putting in my $0.02 anyway),
I think it would be
nice not to split. I think the
parents should feel
totally free to discuss their
interests. The one thing I'd
suggest is
the labeling that has been mentioned
before (in general, not just for
these
posts). If the parents (et al) are
still dissatisfied with
discussion on the main
list or simply find a more focused list more
convenient,
starting their own is of course their prerogative.

"truth" about gymnastics
The reaction to the posts made by Garfal amazes me.
Come on people, is there
ANYTHING left in the world today that isn't tainted
by
scandal, corruption, abuse???
HELLO!!!!
I love gymnastics with all my heart, but it hurts me
more than anything that
some gymnasts may be
suffering abuse and pressure. The
important thing is
to prevent it happening, rather
than abusing people for saying that it does
happen.
Only
last year a Romanian coach was jailed for causing the death of a 10
year old girl.
But that must have happened because
it didn't happen in America, right???
Sometimes I get the impression that
Americans only accept the negative side
of
gymnastics happens in Russia, China and other former East European
countries.
Sure you guys aren't just reacting to something that
couldn't possibly
happen in America???
Out
of interest, I'm I the only person on this forum not from America who
has read "Little girls in pretty boxes"? Because I certainly cannot believe
a whole book was written about lies, especially from
reputable gymnasts such
as Phillips, Stack,
Stokes, B&K Johnson. While I realise that this topic
has
already been covered, the book does contain some facts, eg
Gomez and
Henrich are dead, and Kim Kelly was
kicked off the Olympic team in
controversial
circumstances.
Remember, the important thing is that if abuses are
happening, then they
should be stopped, and
prevented. Because if nothing is
done, then this
theme is going to occur over and
over again.
Flame away,
Simone
