Need Trivia Questions:
Nationals
Hey Gymn!
Since we
just received results from both Russian and US Nationals, I thought
now might be an interesting time for a Nationals trivia
quiz!
Send me your questions (with answers included) via *private
e-mail* (not to
the list) by Tuesday at 5pm
EST. Remember, this is an
international list, so
questions are not at all
limited to US Nationals. I know
everyone would
enjoy some questions about National
competitions around the world.
C'mon everybody, even new subscribers,
even if you don't think they're good
enough or
original enough (yes, this means YOU!), send 'em
in!
:-)

Brian Meeker was not the alternate to the US

Delphi
Hi,
Someone asked about USAG's forum on Delphi. I used to subscribe to Delphi,
and followed this forum for a short time when it was just
starting out. They
posted articles about gymnastics, "latest news"
(which at the time wasn't
updated very often), had
occasional conferences online and an e-mail message
board
where people exchanged ideas. At
the time, only a few people seemed to
subscribe or
contribute, and it wasn't very active. But I'm sure there are
more people involved now, and more information
available. And it is a way to
write to USAG directly.
I think the address was USGF@delphi.com (maybe it's
changed
to USAG@delphi.com ?). You can probably write to them at
the
address, but not really participate on the
forum unless you have Delphi.
The
problem with Delphi is it costs per
minute if you log on anytime during the
day.

can get through (and have the patience once you're there), check out
the Universiade's web page at
http://universiade.fjct.fit.ac.jp/index_te.html
There
is not much information there at the moment, but if you follow the
"Today's
Topics" link, you'll eventually find some average GIFs from the
men's competition.

Articles
The last 2 days there has been gymnastics
articles in the Cincinnati
Enquirer. Yesterdays wasn't really worth
posting but since today there
is another one I
guess I'll write about both.
1st Article
Mike Morgan
Mike
Morgan is going to represent the US Junior national team next week
in the Japanese Jr. International Invitational. He leaves
today
(yesterday)
--------------------------
That
may sound like a brief summary but we came dangerously close to
copy it word for word :) It really was about that
short!
Here is todays about Amanda Borden (On the
front page of the sports
section!!!)
Amanda
Borden
Amanda broke her toe and Monday she will find out if it will keep
her
out of the Worlds. She broke the 2nd toe on
her left foot at the
Nationals last week which
caused her to drop out of the all-around
comp.
Mary Lee Tracy says that the xrays show a shadow that
may be a
break. It will be re examined Monday.
Mary Lee says "We are going to
listen to Amanda's body. If her body says she needs to stop
for a
while, we'll stop."
She petitioned
herself to be considered for the World team and the
trials
will be Sept 8-9 in Austin, Texas (does anyone know if they are
going to air these?)
Amanda definatly
wants to go but the Olympics are a bigger deal to her
and
she doesn't want to ruin that. If she misses the Worlds it
shouldn't effect her chances of making the Olympic team
because she has
proven herself to be one of the
best in the country.
Mary Lee Tracy
Mary Lee Tracy has been chosen
to be the Best Gymnastics coach for the
second
straight year. Mary Lee who was suprised last year
when she won
was even more suprised
this year because she was going against "over
famed
coaches" Bela
Karolyi and Steve Nunno. (this article wa an inset
of the Amanda article)

EF Nationals
HI Gymners!
I am in search
of anyone willing to loan out a copy of their EF that
was
televised last weekend. My 8 month old
nephew has recently discovered
the buttons on the
VCR and my tape has the hapless victim.
I will be more than happy to cover
all postage costs for your efforts.l
Thanks
in advance.

re : new moves, old moves
I think I remember
reading somewhere that Roza Galieva
did
consecutive Tkatchevs
on AB. Whatever, she certainly did
something
out of a Tkatchev,
possibly an immediate giant or double flyaway.
How about these moves
on AB :
* full
twisting layout Pak
* one arm giant performed by a
female gymnast.
Just my thoughts,
Simone
